Maynard City is a city located in Fayette County, Iowa, in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 500 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 456, It is the 471st largest in terms of population. Its area is just over 1.02 square miles (2.64 kmē), of which, 0.99 square miles (2.56 kmē) of it is land and 0.03 square miles (0.08 kmē) of it is water, it is the 359th largest by area in the U.S. state of Iowa.

As of the census of 2000, there were 500 residents, 222 households, and 139 families in the city. The population density was 504.2 people per square mile (194.67/kmē), it is Iowa's 301st least densely populated city. There were 238 housing units at an average density of 240.4 per square mile (92.82/kmē). The average household size was 2.25 persons, and the average family size was 2.92 persons. The racial makeup of the city was 500 White, Black or African American, American Indian, Asian, Native Hawaiian, from two or more races and Ohter races.
