Matanuska-susitna Borough, Alaska is a borough of the United States of Alaska. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 59322 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 85458, It is the third largest borough by population in the U.S. state of Alaska. The borough has a total area of 25259.79 sq mi (65422.56 square kilometre), of which, 24681.54 square miles (63924.9 square kilometre) of it is land and 578.25 square miles (1497.66 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the eighth largest by area in the U.S. state of Alaska.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 59322 people, 20556 households, and 15057 families living in the borough. The population density was 2.4 people per square mile (0.93/kmē), it would be the eighth most densely populated borough in the U.S. state of Alaska. There were 27329 housing units at an average density of 1.1 per square mile (0.42/kmē). The average household size was 2.84 and the average family size was 3.29. In the borough the population was spread out, with 32.2% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 31.1% from 25 to 44, 23.4% from 45 to 64, and 5.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 92.4 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 92.5 females. Its population was estimated at 85458 in July 2008, The racial makeup of the borough was 74352 White, 1281 Black or African American, 5286 American Indian, 924 Asian, 119 Native Hawaiian, and 3496 from two or more races.
