Mason County, Kentucky is a county of the United States of Kentucky. In 2000, county's population was 16800 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 17414, giving it the 63rd largest population among Kentucky's county. The county extends throughout a territory of 246.6 square miles (638.69 square kilometre ), of which, 241.11 square miles (624.47 square kilometre) of it is land and 5.49 square miles (14.22 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 31st smallest by size in Kentucky.

The population density was 69.7 people per square mile (26.91/kmē), it would be the 50th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Kentucky. There were 7754 housing units at an average density of 32.2 per square mile (12.43/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.41 persons, and the average family size was 2.92 persons. In the county Age distribution was 24.1% under the age of 18, 8% from 18 to 24, 28.5% from 25 to 44, 23.9% from 45 to 64, and 15.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.5 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 17414, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 15857 White, 1208 Black or African American, 25 American Indian, 109 Asian, 10 Native Hawaiian, and 205 from two or more races.
