Martinsburg City is one of the city of Berkeley County, West Virginia, located towards the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. The population of the city was 14972 as per the 2000 census data. The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 17020, It is West Virginia's tenth largest by population . It is spread over 5.05 sq mi (13.08 sq km), of which, 5.03 square miles (13.03 sq km ) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 sq km) of it is water, it is the 37th largest by area in the U.S. state of West Virginia.

The population density was 2977.4 people per square mile (1149.58/kmē), it would be the 12th most densely populated city in the U.S. state of West Virginia. The racial makeup of the city was 12561 White, 1741 Black or African American, 60 American Indian, 94 Asian, 3 Native Hawaiian, 325 from two or more races and 188 Ohter races.
