Martin County is a county in the United States of North Carolina. As of 2000 the population was 25593. The July 2008 population estimate is 23398, making it the 25th least populous county in North Carolina. The county has a total area of 461.49 miē (1195.25 kmē), of which, 461.17 square miles (1194.42 kmē) of it is land and 0.32 square miles (0.83 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 56th largest by total area among North Carolina's county.

In July 2008, its estimated population was 23398, The racial makeup of the county was 12763 White, 10279 Black or African American, 87 American Indian, 79 Asian, 13 Native Hawaiian, and 177 from two or more races.
