Marshfield City is a city located in the Wood and Marathon counties, Wisconsin, United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 18800 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 18267, making it Wisconsin's 36th largest. Its area is just over 12.75 square miles (33.02 kmē), of which, 12.72 square miles (32.94 kmē) of it is land and 0.03 square miles (0.08 kmē) of it is water, it is the 48th largest by area in the U.S. state of Wisconsin.

As of the census of 2000, there were 18800 people, 76 households, and 48 families living in the city. The population density was 1477.9 people per square mile (570.62/kmē), it is Wisconsin's 133rd most densely populated city. There were 8617 housing units at an average density of 677.4 per square mile (261.55/kmē). The average household size was 2.24 persons, and the average family size was 2.91 persons. In the city Age distribution was 22.9% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 28.3% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 17.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 90.2 males. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 18259 White, 74 Black or African American, 44 American Indian, 260 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, 121 from two or more races and 41 Ohter races.
