Marshall Town, Madison County, North Carolina is a town located in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. Marshall Town had an official population of 840 in 2000. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 832, It is the 419th largest by population in the U.S. state of North Carolina. Its area is just over 3.76 sq mi (9.74 square kilometre), of which, 3.5 square miles (9.06 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.26 square miles (0.67 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 233rd largest by area in the U.S. state of North Carolina.

As of the census of 2000, there were 840 people, 390 households, and 225 families living in the town. The population density was 240.1 people per square mile (92.7/kmē), it is North Carolina's 89th least densely populated town. There were 443 housing units at an average density of 126.6 per square mile (48.88/kmē). The average household size was 2.12 people, and the average family size was 2.81 people. In the town the population was spread out, with 21.7% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 28.3% from 25 to 44, 22% from 45 to 64, and 21.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 85.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 75.5 males.
