Marshall County is one of the 77 county of Oklahoma, located towards the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 13184. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 14919, It is the 45th largest in terms of population. The county comprises an area of 426.95 sq mi (1105.8 sq km), of which, 371.11 square miles (961.17 sq km) of it is land and 55.84 square miles (144.62 sq km) of it is water, makes it the third smallest by total area in Oklahoma. It is ranks third in the size of its inland waterways in Oklahoma.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 13184 people, 5371 households, and 3800 families living in the county. The population density was 35.5 people per square mile (13.71/kmē), giving it the 30th most densely populated county among the Oklahoma. There were 8517 housing units at an average density of 23 per square mile (8.88/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.4 persons, and the average family size was 2.87 persons. Age range in the county was well distributed with 23.5% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 24.1% from 25 to 44, 25.5% from 45 to 64, and 19.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.6 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 14919, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 84.38% White, 1.98% Black or African American, 8.8% American Indian, 0.34% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, and 4.49% from two or more races.
