Marshall County, Illinois is a county of the United States of Illinois. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 13180 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 12670, It is 19th least populous county in Illinois. It is spread over 398.52 sq mi (1032.16 square kilometre), of which, 386.06 square miles (999.89 square kilometre ) of it is land and 12.45 square miles (32.25 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 29th smallest by area in the U.S. state of Illinois.

In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 23.5% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 25.6% from 25 to 44, 24.9% from 45 to 64, and 18.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.7 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 12670, The racial makeup of the county was 97.78% White, 0.8% Black or African American, 0.26% American Indian, 0.32% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, and 0.84% from two or more races.
