Marksville City is a city located in Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana, in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. In 2000, city's population was 5537 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 5684, It is Louisiana's 96th largest by population . According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.09 mi˛ (10.59 sq km), of which, 4.08 square miles (10.57 sq km) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 151st largest by total area in Louisiana.

The population density was 1358 people per square mile (524.33/km˛), it would be the 102nd most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Louisiana. The median age is 34.3 years, the median age of male residents at 31.7 and the median age of female residents at 35.8. The racial makeup of the city was 3155 White, 2137 Black or African American, 155 American Indian, 15 Asian, Native Hawaiian, 69 from two or more races and 6 Ohter races.
