Marion County is a county located in Ohio, in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. It is home to over 66217 people (2000 census). The July 2008 population estimate is 65768, It is the 38th most populous county in the U.S. state of Ohio. It has total area of 404.15 sq mi (1046.74 kmē), of which, 403.84 square miles (1045.94 kmē) of it is land and 0.3 square miles (0.78 kmē) of it is water, making it Ohio's fifth smallest county by total area.

In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 24.5% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 30.3% from 25 to 44, 23.5% from 45 to 64, and 13.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 106.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 107.1 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 65768, The racial makeup of the county was 91.49% White, 6.59% Black or African American, 0.22% American Indian, 0.64% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, and 1.06% from two or more races.
