Marion County is a county in the United States of Alabama. The county has a population of 31214 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 29465, It is the 38th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Alabama. The county comprises an area of 743.57 mi˛ (1925.84 sq km), of which, 741.41 square miles (1920.24 sq km) of it is land and 2.16 square miles (5.59 sq km) of it is water, making it Alabama's 28th largest county by total area.

In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 22.5% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 25.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.2 males. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 29465, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 94.47% White, 4.07% Black or African American, 0.34% American Indian, 0.26% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 0.82% from two or more races.
