Marion City is a city located in the McDowell County, North Carolina, United States. The population of the city was 4943 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the city is 5144, It is the 121st most populous in the U.S. state of North Carolina. The city spans an area of 3.41 miē (8.83 kmē), makes it the 258th largest by total area in North Carolina.
