Marinette County is a county located in Wisconsin, in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 43384 inhabitants. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 42288, It is the 35th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The county spans an area of 1550.07 sq mi (4014.66 square kilometre), of which, 1401.76 square miles (3630.54 square kilometre) of it is land and 148.32 square miles (384.15 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the fifth largest by area in the U.S. state of Wisconsin.

As of the census of 2000, there were 43384 people in the county, organized into 17585 households, and 11840 families residing in the county. The population density was 30.9 people per square mile (11.93/kmē), it is the 23rd least populated county in terms of population density. There were 26260 housing units at an average density of 18.7 per square mile (7.22/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.38 persons, and the average family size was 2.92 persons. In the county Age distribution was 23.5% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 25.9% from 25 to 44, 25% from 45 to 64, and 17.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 102.6 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 105.3 females. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 42288, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 97.67% White, 0.35% Black or African American, 0.62% American Indian, 0.49% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 0.85% from two or more races.
