The county encompasses an area of 828.2 sq mi (2145.03 square kilometre ), of which, 519.8 square miles (1346.28 square kilometre) of it is land and 308.39 square miles (798.73 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 11th smallest by total area in California. It is ranks ninth in the size of its inland waterways in California.
