Margate City City, New Jersey is a city of the Atlantic County, New Jersey, United States. As of 2000 the population was 8193. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the city is 8501, It is the 201st largest by population in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The city encompasses an area of 1.58 miē (4.09 kmē ), of which, 1.41 square miles (3.65 kmē) of it is land and 0.18 square miles (0.47 kmē) of it is water, making it New Jersey's 165th smallest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 8193 people, 457 households, and 284 families residing in the city.
