Marathon City is a United States city located in the Monroe County, Florida, United States. Marathon City had an official population of 10255 in 2000. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 9526, making it the 264th most populous in Florida. It covers total area of 9.64 sq mi (24.97 sq km), of which, 8.65 square miles (22.4 sq km) of it is land and 1 square miles (2.59 sq km) of it is water, it is the 195th largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 10255 people, 4597 households, and 2735 families living in the city.
