Manistee County, Michigan is a county located in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Manistee County is home to 24527 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 24640, It is Michigan's 26th least populous county. The county spans an area of 1280.77 mi˛ (3317.18 sq km), of which, 543.61 square miles (1407.94 sq km) of it is land and 737.16 square miles (1909.24 sq km) of it is water, it is the 26th largest by area in the U.S. state of Michigan.

It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 24640, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 93.92% White, 2.48% Black or African American, 1.55% American Indian, 0.39% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 1.63% from two or more races.
