Maitland City is one of the city of Orange County, Florida, located towards the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. The city has a population of 12019 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 14931, It is the 230th largest by population in the U.S. state of Florida. Its area is just over 5.67 sq mi (14.69 kmē), of which, 4.64 square miles (12.02 kmē) of it is land and 1.03 square miles (2.67 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 302nd largest by total area among Florida.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 12019 people, 4825 households, and 3240 families living in the city. The population density was 2589.1 people per square mile (999.66/kmē), it is the 303rd most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Florida. In the city the population was spread out, with 25.5% under the age of 18, 5.2% from 18 to 24, 29.1% from 25 to 44, 24% from 45 to 64, and 16.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 89.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 84.9 males. The median age of the city's population was 39.7 years, the median age of male residents at 38.2 and the median age of female residents at 41. The racial makeup of the city was 85.22% White, 9.73% Black or African American, 0.12% American Indian, 2.18% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, 1.58% from two or more races and 1.16% Other races.
