Madison County is a county located in Tennessee, in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 91837. The July 2008 population estimate is 96376, It is 14th most populous county in Tennessee. The county encompasses an area of 558.63 sq mi (1446.85 sq km ), of which, 557 square miles (1442.62 sq km) of it is land and 1.63 square miles (4.22 sq km) of it is water, it is the 26th largest by area in the U.S. state of Tennessee.

In the county Population was distributed with 25.8% under the age of 18, 11% from 18 to 24, 29.1% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 12.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 92.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.2 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 96376, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 63.94% White, 33.99% Black or African American, 0.19% American Indian, 0.85% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 1.01% from two or more races.
