Madison County, Nebraska is a county of the United States of Nebraska. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 35226 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 34020 in July 2008, giving it the ninth largest population among Nebraska's county. It has total area of 575.05 sq mi (1489.37 square kilometre), of which, 572.57 square miles (1482.95 square kilometre) of it is land and 2.49 square miles (6.45 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 56th largest by total area in Nebraska.

The population density was 61.5 people per square mile (23.75/kmē), making it the seventh most densely populated county in Nebraska. There were 14432 housing units at an average density of 25.2 per square mile (9.73/kmē). The average household size was 2.52 persons, and the average family size was 3.12 persons. In the county Population was distributed with 26.8% under the age of 18, 11.6% from 18 to 24, 27.1% from 25 to 44, 20.1% from 45 to 64, and 14.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.8 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 34020, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 32827 White, 265 Black or African American, 464 American Indian, 154 Asian, 16 Native Hawaiian, and 294 from two or more races.
