Madison County is a one of the county from Kentucky's 120 counties, located in Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. The population of the county was 70872 as per the 2000 census data. Its population was estimated at 82192 in July 2008, making it Kentucky's ninth largest county. The county encompasses an area of 443.11 square miles (1147.65 sq km ), of which, 440.68 square miles (1141.36 sq km) of it is land and 2.42 square miles (6.27 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 25th largest by total area in Kentucky.

As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 82192, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 93.4% White, 4.26% Black or African American, 0.26% American Indian, 0.84% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 1.22% from two or more races.
