Madison County is one of the 92 county of Indiana, located towards the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Madison County is home to 133358 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 131501, It is Indiana's 12th most populous county. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 452.91 sq mi (1173.03 kmē), of which, 452.13 square miles (1171.01 kmē) of it is land and 0.78 square miles (2.02 kmē) of it is water, it is the 21st largest by area in the U.S. state of Indiana.

In July 2008, its estimated population was 131501, The racial makeup of the county was 118032 White, 10951 Black or African American, 345 American Indian, 652 Asian, 29 Native Hawaiian, and 1492 from two or more races.
