Madison County is a county in the United States of Arkansas. In 2000, the population was 14243. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 15651, making it the 51st most populous county in Arkansas. The county comprises an area of 837.06 sq mi (2167.98 sq km), of which, 836.81 square miles (2167.33 sq km) of it is land and 0.25 square miles (0.65 sq km) of it is water, making it the 13th largest by size in Arkansas.


According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 14243 people, 5463 households, and 4079 families residing in the county. The population density was 17 people per square mile (6.56/kmē), making it the 13th least densely populated county in Arkansas. There were 6537 housing units at an average density of 7.8 per square mile (3.01/kmē). The average household size was 2.59 persons, and the average family size was 3.03 persons. In the Madison County, 26.8% of the population was under the age of 18, 7.5% were 18 to 24, 27% were 25 to 44, 24.3% were 45 to 64, and 14.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.3 males.
