Madison City is a city located in Dane County, Wisconsin, in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. Madison City had an official population of 208054 in 2000. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 231916, making it the second most populous in Wisconsin. It has total area of 84.68 square miles (219.32 sq km), of which, 68.67 square miles (177.85 sq km) of it is land and 16.01 square miles (41.47 sq km) of it is water, it is the second largest by area in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. It is ranks second in the size of its inland waterways in Wisconsin.

The population density was 3029.7 people per square mile (1169.77/kmē), it is Wisconsin's 20th most densely populated city.
