Madison City is one of the city of Lake County, South Dakota, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. The city has a population of 6540 as per the 2000 census data. The July 2008 population estimate is 6482, It is the 13th most populous in the U.S. state of South Dakota. The city extends throughout a territory of 4.28 sq mi (11.09 kmē ), it is the 27th largest by area in the U.S. state of South Dakota.
