Madera County, California is a county located in the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 123109 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 148333, It is the 33rd largest county by population in the U.S. state of California. It covers total area of 2153.32 miē (5577.07 kmē), of which, 2135.86 square miles (5531.85 kmē) of it is land and 17.46 square miles (45.22 kmē) of it is water, it is the 25th largest by area in the U.S. state of California.

The population density was 57.6 people per square mile (22.24/kmē), it is the 36th most populated county in terms of population density. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 29.6% under the age of 18, 9.9% from 18 to 24, 29.1% from 25 to 44, 20.4% from 45 to 64, and 11% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 91.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 148333, The racial makeup of the county was 87.63% White, 4.55% Black or African American, 3.3% American Indian, 2.06% Asian, 0.26% Native Hawaiian, and 2.2% from two or more races.
