The county comprises an area of 613.24 mi˛ (1588.28 square kilometre), of which, 610.52 square miles (1581.24 square kilometre) of it is land and 2.72 square miles (7.04 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 17th smallest by total area among Alabama's county.
