Macon City is a United States city located in the Bibb and Jones counties, Georgia, United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 97255 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the city is 92775, giving it the sixth largest population among Georgia. The city has a total area of 56.27 mi˛ (145.74 square kilometre), of which, 55.8 square miles (144.52 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.46 square miles (1.19 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the sixth largest by area in the U.S. state of Georgia.

As of the census of 2000, there were 97255 people in the city, organized into 38444 households, and 24214 families living in the city. The population density was 1742.8 people per square mile (672.9/km˛), it is Georgia's 60th most densely populated city. There were 44341 housing units at an average density of 794.6 per square mile (306.8/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.44 persons, and the average family size was 3.08 persons. In the city the population was distributed as follows: 26.9% under the age of 18, 11.3% from 18 to 24, 27.5% from 25 to 44, 20% from 45 to 64, and 14.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 79.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 72.8 males.
