Mackinac Island City is a city located in the Mackinac County, Michigan, United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 523 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 462 in July 2008, making it the 105th least populous in Michigan. It has total area of 5.58 sq mi (14.45 sq km), of which, 4.37 square miles (11.32 sq km) of it is land and 1.22 square miles (3.16 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 130th largest by total area in Michigan.

As of the census of 2000, there were 523 people in the city, organized into 252 households, and 144 families residing in the city. The population density was 119.8 people per square mile (46.26/kmē), making it the ninth least densely populated city in Michigan. There were 565 housing units at an average density of 129.3 per square mile (49.92/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.08 persons, and the average family size was 2.69 persons. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 396 White, Black or African American, 96 American Indian, 2 Asian, Native Hawaiian, 28 from two or more races and 1 Ohter races.
