Lyon County is a county located in Minnesota, in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Lyon County is home to 25425 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 24844, making it the 41st most populous county in Minnesota. The county comprises an area of 721.46 sq mi (1868.57 kmē), of which, 714.17 square miles (1849.69 kmē) of it is land and 7.29 square miles (18.88 kmē) of it is water, it is the 40th largest by area in the U.S. state of Minnesota.

In the county the population was spread out, with 26.2% under the age of 18, 13.3% from 18 to 24, 26.5% from 25 to 44, 19.5% from 45 to 64, and 14.6% who were 65 or older. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 24844, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 23732 White, 372 Black or African American, 92 American Indian, 457 Asian, 10 Native Hawaiian, and 181 from two or more races.
