Luce County, Michigan is a county of the United States of Michigan. The county has a population of 7024 as per the 2000 census data. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 6614, It is the second smallest county by population in the U.S. state of Michigan. The county has a total area of 1911.89 square miles (4951.77 kmē), of which, 903.08 square miles (2338.97 kmē) of it is land and 1008.8 square miles (2612.78 kmē) of it is water, makes it the 11th largest by total area in Michigan.

As of the census of 2000, there were 7024 people in the county, organized into 2481 households, and 1740 families residing in the county. The population density was 7.8 people per square mile (3.01/kmē), making it the fourth least densely populated county in Michigan. There were 4008 housing units at an average density of 4.4 per square mile (1.7/kmē). The average household size was 2.4 people, and the average family size was 2.86 people. Age range in the county was well distributed with 21.4% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 30.5% from 25 to 44, 24.1% from 45 to 64, and 15.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 124.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 132.8 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 6614, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 5370 White, 577 Black or African American, 429 American Indian, 26 Asian, 3 Native Hawaiian, and 209 from two or more races.
