Lucas County is a county located in the United States of Ohio. It is home to over 455054 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the estimated population was 440456, giving it the sixth largest population among Ohio's county. The county comprises an area of 595.88 miē (1543.32 kmē), of which, 340.46 square miles (881.79 kmē) of it is land and 255.42 square miles (661.53 kmē) of it is water, it is the 14th largest by area in the U.S. state of Ohio. It is ranks seventh in the size of its inland waterways in Ohio.

The population density was 1336.6 people per square mile (516.06/kmē), it would be the fourth most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Ohio. In the county Age distribution was 26.3% under the age of 18, 9.8% from 18 to 24, 29.1% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 13.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 108 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 112.8 females. The July 2008 population estimate is 440456, The racial makeup of the county was 345001 White, 79570 Black or African American, 1503 American Indian, 6563 Asian, 134 Native Hawaiian, and 7685 from two or more races.
