Lucas City is a city located in Collin County, Texas, in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 2890 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 4914, making it the 505th most populous in Texas. It is spread over 9.2 sq mi (23.83 square kilometre), giving it the 245th largest by total area among Texas.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2890 people, 945 households, and 855 families living in the city. The population density was 314.3 people per square mile (121.35/kmē), making its Texas's 340th least densely populated city. There were 962 housing units at an average density of 104.6 per square mile (40.39/kmē). The average household size was 3.06 persons, and the average family size was 3.22 persons. In the city the population was spread out, with 30.2% under the age of 18, 5.3% from 18 to 24, 28.8% from 25 to 44, 29.1% from 45 to 64, and 6.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.9 males. The median age was 39 years, the median age of male residents at 39.3 and the median age of female residents at 38.8. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 96.44% White, 0.42% Black or African American, 0.52% American Indian, 0.28% Asian, 0.03% Native Hawaiian, 1.31% from two or more races and 1% Other races.
