Louisa County is a United States county located in the United States of Iowa. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Louisa County is home to 12183 inhabitants. Its area is just over 417.64 square miles (1081.68 square kilometre), of which, 401.92 square miles (1040.97 square kilometre) of it is land and 15.73 square miles (40.74 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Iowa's sixth smallest county by total area. It is ranks seventh in the size of its inland waterways in Iowa.

In July 2008, its estimated population was 11725, The racial makeup of the county was 11508 White, 79 Black or African American, 29 American Indian, 27 Asian, 12 Native Hawaiian, and 70 from two or more races.
