Long County, Georgia is a county of the United States of Georgia. The population of county in 2000 stood at 10304 as per the Census data. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 11452, It is the 40th least populous county in the U.S. state of Georgia. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 403.49 sq mi (1045.03 square kilometre), of which, 400.92 square miles (1038.38 square kilometre) of it is land and 2.57 square miles (6.66 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 58th largest by size in Georgia.

The population density was 25.7 people per square mile (9.92/kmē), it is Georgia's 29th least densely populated county. There were 4232 housing units at an average density of 10.6 per square mile (4.09/kmē). The average household size was 2.88 people, and the average family size was 3.28 people. In the Long County, 33.1% of the population was under the age of 18, 14.2% were 18 to 24, 31% were 25 to 44, 15.9% were 45 to 64, and 5.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 102.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.7 males. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 11452, The racial makeup of the county was 8200 White, 2806 Black or African American, 92 American Indian, 115 Asian, 29 Native Hawaiian, and 210 from two or more races.
