Long Beach City is a one of the Harrison County, Mississippi, located in Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 17320. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 12234, It is the 21st largest by population in the U.S. state of Mississippi. The city comprises an area of 10.29 sq mi (26.65 sq km), of which, 10.11 square miles (26.18 sq km) of it is land and 0.19 square miles (0.49 sq km) of it is water, it is the 61st largest by area in the U.S. state of Mississippi.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 17320 residents, 6560 households, and 4696 families in the city. The population density was 1713.6 people per square mile (661.62/kmē), it is Mississippi's 25th most densely populated city. There were 7203 housing units at an average density of 712.5 per square mile (275.1/kmē). The average household size was 2.61 and the average family size was 3.07. In the city the population is diverse age-wise, with 27.1% under the age of 18, 9.1% from 18 to 24, 29.8% from 25 to 44, 22.8% from 45 to 64, and 11.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.7 males. The median age was 35.7 years, the median age of male residents at 34.5 and the median age of female residents at 36.8. The racial makeup of the city was 15154 White, 1275 Black or African American, 67 American Indian, 445 Asian, 12 Native Hawaiian, 250 from two or more races and 117 Ohter races.
