London City, Kentucky

London City is a city located in Laurel County, Kentucky, in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. The city has a population of 5692 as per the 2000 census data. In July 2008, its estimated population was 7962, making it the 84th most populous in Kentucky. It has total area of 7.71 square miles (19.97 square kilometre), giving it the 45th largest by total area among Kentucky.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 5692 people, 2400 households, and 1461 families living in the city. The population density was 738.1 people per square mile (284.98/kmē), giving it the 150th least densely populated city among the Kentucky. There were 2676 housing units at an average density of 347.1 per square mile (134.02/kmē). The average household size was 2.16 persons, and the average family size was 2.78 persons. In the city the population was spread out, with 19.3% under the age of 18, 9.7% from 18 to 24, 28.1% from 25 to 44, 23.4% from 45 to 64, and 19.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 114.5 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 118.2 females. The median age was 39.9 years, The median age of males was 35.8 years, for females the median age was 43.9 years. The racial makeup of the city was 96.03% White, 1.83% Black or African American, 0.33% American Indian, 0.69% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, 1.02% from two or more races and 0.11% Other races.
