Logan County is a county located in the United States of Illinois. It is home to over 31183 people (2000 census). According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 29788, giving it the 50th largest population among Illinois's county. It covers total area of 619.01 mi˛ (1603.23 sq km), of which, 618.14 square miles (1600.98 sq km) of it is land and 0.87 square miles (2.25 sq km) of it is water, making it Illinois's 34th largest county by total area.

The population density was 50.4 people per square mile (19.46/km˛), it is the 49th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Illinois. There were 11872 housing units at an average density of 19.2 per square mile (7.41/km˛). The average household size was 2.42 and the average family size was 2.94. In the county Age distribution was 21.9% under the age of 18, 11.6% from 18 to 24, 29.7% from 25 to 44, 21.8% from 45 to 64, and 15% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.7 males. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 29788, The racial makeup of the county was 27080 White, 2173 Black or African American, 58 American Indian, 253 Asian, 6 Native Hawaiian, and 218 from two or more races.
