Livingston County is one of the 120 county of Kentucky, located towards the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. In 2000, county's population was 9804 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 9591, giving it the 20th smallest population among Kentucky's county. The county encompasses an area of 342.2 mi˛ (886.29 square kilometre ), of which, 316.08 square miles (818.64 square kilometre) of it is land and 26.12 square miles (67.65 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 53rd largest by total area in Kentucky. It is ranks sixth in the size of its inland waterways in Kentucky.

The population density was 31 people per square mile (11.97/km˛), making its Kentucky's 13th least densely populated county. There were 4772 housing units at an average density of 15.1 per square mile (5.83/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.42 persons, and the average family size was 2.86 persons. In the Livingston County, 22.3% of the population was under the age of 18, 7.5% were 18 to 24, 28.2% were 25 to 44, 27% were 45 to 64, and 14.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.7 males. Its population was estimated at 9591 in July 2008, The racial makeup of the county was 9422 White, 48 Black or African American, 45 American Indian, 4 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, and 71 from two or more races.
