Livingston County is a one of the county from Illinois's 102 counties, located in Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 39678. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 37681, making it Illinois's 38th largest county. The county comprises an area of 1045.43 square miles (2707.65 square kilometre), of which, 1043.76 square miles (2703.33 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.67 square miles (4.33 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the sixth largest by total area in Illinois.

In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 25% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 29.6% from 25 to 44, 21.9% from 45 to 64, and 15.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.5 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 37681, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 35148 White, 1975 Black or African American, 85 American Indian, 150 Asian, 2 Native Hawaiian, and 321 from two or more races.
