Linton City is a city in the Greene County, Indiana, United States. In 2000, the population was 5774. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 5696, making it Indiana's 109th largest. The city comprises an area of 2.96 mi˛ (7.67 sq km), making it Indiana's 148th largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 5774 people, 2450 households, and 1527 families residing in the city. The population density was 1949.7 people per square mile (752.78/km˛), it is the 175th most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Indiana.
