Lincolnton City is a city in the Lincoln County, North Carolina, United States. The population of the city was 9965 as per the 2000 census data. The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 10859, making it the 66th most populous in North Carolina. The city has a total area of 8.18 mi˛ (21.19 square kilometre), of which, 8.17 square miles (21.16 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 96th largest by total area in North Carolina.

As of the census of 2000, there were 9965 people in the city, organized into 3878 households, and 2612 families living in the city. The population density was 1219.4 people per square mile (470.81/km˛), it is North Carolina's 130th most densely populated city.
