According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Lincoln County is home to 44479 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 45946, making it Oregon's 18th largest county. The county comprises an area of 1193.79 sq mi (3091.9 square kilometre), of which, 979.57 square miles (2537.07 square kilometre) of it is land and 214.23 square miles (554.85 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Oregon's tenth smallest county by total area. It is ranks fifth in the size of its inland waterways in Oregon.

The population density was 45.4 people per square mile (17.53/kmē), it would be the 12th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Oregon. In the county the population was spread out, with 21.4% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 23.5% from 25 to 44, 29% from 45 to 64, and 19.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 106.4 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 111 females. In July 2008, its estimated population was 45946, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 42226 White, 277 Black or African American, 1562 American Indian, 494 Asian, 83 Native Hawaiian, and 1304 from two or more races.
