Lincoln County is a county located in the United States of New Mexico. In 2000, the population was 19411. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 20793, It is New Mexico's 19th most populous county. It is spread over 4831.25 mi˛ (12512.88 sq km), of which, 4830.97 square miles (12512.15 sq km ) of it is land and 0.28 square miles (0.73 sq km) of it is water, makes it the eighth largest by total area in New Mexico.

As of the census of 2000, there were 19411 people in the county, organized into 8202 households, and 5631 families residing in the county. The population density was 4 people per square mile (1.54/km˛), making its New Mexico's 22nd most densely populated county. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 22.7% under the age of 18, 6% from 18 to 24, 23.2% from 25 to 44, 30.2% from 45 to 64, and 17.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.3 males. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 20793, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 94.3% White, 1.14% Black or African American, 2.93% American Indian, 0.33% Asian, 0.07% Native Hawaiian, and 1.22% from two or more races.
