Lincoln County is one of the 93 county of Nebraska, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 34632. Its population was estimated at 35582 in July 2008, making it Nebraska's eighth largest county. The county encompasses an area of 2575.1 sq mi (6669.48 sq km ), of which, 2563.98 square miles (6640.68 sq km) of it is land and 11.12 square miles (28.8 sq km) of it is water, making it the third largest by size in Nebraska. It is ranks seventh in the size of its inland waterways in Nebraska.

As of the census of 2000, there were 34632 people in the county, organized into 14076 households, and 9445 families living in the county. The population density was 13.5 people per square mile (5.21/kmē), it is 36th most densely populated county in Nebraska. There were 15438 housing units at an average density of 6 per square mile (2.32/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.41 persons, and the average family size was 2.97 persons. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 26.2% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 26.6% from 25 to 44, 23.8% from 45 to 64, and 15.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.4 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 35582, The racial makeup of the county was 96.84% White, 0.97% Black or African American, 0.79% American Indian, 0.49% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 0.89% from two or more races.
