Lincoln County is a county located in Montana, in the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. It is home to over 18837 people (2000 census). According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 18971, It is the tenth most populous county in the U.S. state of Montana. The county spans an area of 3675.11 sq mi (9518.49 sq km), of which, 3612.67 square miles (9356.77 sq km) of it is land and 62.44 square miles (161.72 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 12th largest by total area in Montana. It is ranks sixth in the size of its inland waterways in Montana.

As of the census of 2000, there were 18837 residents, 7764 households, and 5335 families in the county. The population density was 5.2 people per square mile (2.01/kmē), it is the 14th most populated county in terms of population density. There were 9319 housing units at an average density of 2.6 per square mile (1/kmē). The average household size was 2.4 persons, and the average family size was 2.9 persons. Age range in the county was well distributed with 25.3% under the age of 18, 5.5% from 18 to 24, 24.2% from 25 to 44, 29.7% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 102.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.5 males. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 18971, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 18236 White, 48 Black or African American, 255 American Indian, 70 Asian, 9 Native Hawaiian, and 353 from two or more races.
