Lincoln County is a county located in the United States of Colorado. It is home to over 6087 people (2000 census). In July 2008, its estimated population was 5286, It is the 15th least populous county in the U.S. state of Colorado. It covers total area of 2586.39 sq mi (6698.72 square kilometre), of which, 2586.09 square miles (6697.94 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.3 square miles (0.78 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the tenth largest by total area among Colorado's county.

The population density was 2.4 people per square mile (0.93/kmē), giving it the 12th least densely populated county among the Colorado. There were 2406 housing units at an average density of 0.9 per square mile (0.35/kmē). The average household size was 2.44 persons, and the average family size was 3.04 persons. Age range in the county was well distributed with 23.9% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 33% from 25 to 44, 21.8% from 45 to 64, and 14.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 130.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 140.7 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 5286, The racial makeup of the county was 4780 White, 311 Black or African American, 69 American Indian, 46 Asian, 4 Native Hawaiian, and 76 from two or more races.
