The county spans an area of 607.08 mi˛ (1572.33 square kilometre), of which, 568.05 square miles (1471.24 square kilometre) of it is land and 39.03 square miles (101.09 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 14th smallest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks eighth in the size of its inland waterways in Alabama.
