Licking County is a county located in the United States of Ohio. As of 2000 the population was 145491. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 157721, giving it the 18th largest population among Ohio's county. The county has a total area of 688.38 miē (1782.9 kmē), of which, 686.5 square miles (1778.03 kmē) of it is land and 1.88 square miles (4.87 kmē) of it is water, makes it the sixth largest by total area in Ohio.

As of the census of 2000, there were 145491 people, 55609 households, and 40126 families residing in the county. The population density was 211.9 people per square mile (81.82/kmē), it would be the 26th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Ohio. There were 58760 housing units at an average density of 85.6 per square mile (33.05/kmē). The average household size was 2.56 persons, and the average family size was 3.01 persons. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 26% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 29.4% from 25 to 44, 23.9% from 45 to 64, and 11.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 157721, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 149251 White, 4760 Black or African American, 495 American Indian, 1148 Asian, 31 Native Hawaiian, and 2036 from two or more races.
